ANSERIFORMES: Anatidae

Tadorna tadornoides  

Male and female Australian Shelducks. The male is closest to the camera.

These were at Montecollina Bore just off the Strzelecki Track.

We had intended to camp there that night and it was late when we arrived but the place was already full of campers with the same idea including two organised groups.

Preferring quiet camps, after watching the birds come in at dusk we travelled on for another half hour and camped on a gibber plain about a kilometre off the track.
